Since owning our first pull behind Wilderness trailer in the late 80’s we have often envisioned the opportunity to recreate the exploration and simplicity we found during those times. Whether it was the weekend small town festival, or experiencing new places, over the years our retirement dream was to travel and find new adventures.
Well, with the hopes of retirement are on the horizon we decided to see if this “dream” should become our “reality”. With that in mind we purchased a Class “C” motorhome in the fall of 2018 and began the process of determining if the “dream” was what we thought it would be. It was and is!
After a pandemic, a battle with Lime Disease (Jan) and a cancer diagnosis (Alan), we are inching ever closer to realizing the dream of retirement and travel. Although Alan retired in 2022 and his cancer is in remission, our adventures generally remain close to home while Jan continues to work full time. Time & distance may still be limited, but we have enjoyed every moment of exploring those wonders that lie just around the next bend.
In 2023, while on a visit with friends in Florida, Alan somewhat impulsively purchased a “new to us” 2021 Winnebago Sunstar 31B. Impulsively may be too strong of a description as we had been looking for an upgrade, however the fact remains that he had to cancel his return airline ticket to drive – with the help of a friend – the RV back to Minnesota. Thank heavens for good friends, a trusting & loving wife, and a mutual desire for the adventures that lie ahead!
This site is intended to share our journey towards retirement, and beyond. We sincerely hope that it will bring you smiles & laughter, and perhaps a helpful lesson or two along the way.
Thanks for sharing our adventures with us!
Alan, Jan, and Chance
